That is incredible. Sad people don't think about their trash and it's impact on the environment and the innocent creatures in it. Poor turtle. I hope whom ever took the picture relieved this poor little guy from his six pack tangle.
This is true, like mentioned above, this baby turtle got stuck when small and grew around the plastic. I don't think this is very nifty. but maybe that's just me.
That is not nifty. It is only nifty because it is bringing awareness how polluters are effecting the enviroment. The turtle looks rather healthy considering its deformities but it could very well be suffering. It is too sad. I am horrified. Not acceptable.
@ Nifty Nick I find it interesting you don't see the revelance your blog's name is: "Now That's Nifty" The title of the post picture is nifty (Pack of Turtles). Then you see the picture and you say "that's interesting"? Naw. Maybe if the title of the blog was "Save The Turtles", the title of the picture was " Shove Your Six Pack Plastic In The Recycling Bin". That's interesting. Your blog essentially is nifty. I endorsed (shared) the "26 Unique Bike Stands" post before you posted this one. I am not sure if you are encouraging this type of trash or helping the turtle. Let's help the turtle.
Really? Not sure if I am endorsing this type of trash or not? Life can be dark when viewed through a cynical lense. I'll leave it up to you to decide my intention.
There's no way this is real. In order for a turtle to grow from the size it would fit through the hold to the age it is now would be several years. So, after several years of hibernating at the muddy bottom of ponds and dragging this thing with it everywhere, the plastic looks as new as the day you bought a six pack? NO WAY. Just take one of those flimsy little plastic things and nail it to a tree and expose it to just a few months of weather. It will become discolored and, most likely, dry and break super easily. The turtle would have broken the plastic or become stuck underwater long before it's shell would grow around it. Really people, think about it for just a minute.
Thanks for posting this picture! All what I can say, WOW.

ReplyDeleteI never said it was nifty, just interesting. Sorry if my blog name implied otherwise.
Thanks for posting this. I might just help another animal if people saw the results of their carelessness. Blessings~
