Recipe for "3, 2, 1 Cake:"
Ingredients:
1 box - Angel Food Cake Mix
1 box - Cake Mix (Any Flavor)
2 Tbsp - Water
Directions:
In a zip-lock bag, combine the two cake mixes together and mix well.
For each individual cake serving, take out 3 Tablespoons of the cake mix combination and mix it with 2 Tablespoons of water in a small microwave-safe container.
Microwave on high for 1 minute, and voila - enough cake just for you.
Always remember, that one of the cake mixes MUST be Angel Food. The other can be any flavor. The Angel Food is the cake mix that has the eggs whites in it.
Yield: 1 serving
This recipe is called 3, 2, 1 Cake because all you need to remember is: 3 tablespoons mix,
2 tablespoons water, 1 minute in the microwave.

My daughter brought one of these home from a friend for Valentine's Day. Such a fun idea!

ReplyDeleteWill any brand of Angel food work?
ReplyDeleteOh I'm gonna get even fatter than I am now...
ReplyDeleteAwesome discovery!
Tried this with a chocolate cake, definitely a little on the eggy side, but still good. It was hot when it came out of the microwave so I put a large spoonful of icecream on top of it!
ReplyDeleteThis is the best cake in a mug recipe, and its so easy to remember. Thanks a lot, I had a mug party with my nephews and nieces =D
ReplyDeleteIt is best to use an angel food cake that has one pouch instead of the two pouch mix with the Step 1 and Step 2 (separate egg white pouch), ie Best Choice brand, tends to be a little too rubbery. *****Best results with Betty Crocker Angel Food (1 pouch mix) and Betty Crocker Cake Mix.***** Saving a few cents hasn't seemed to pay off in the end. Purchasing name brand mixes is only about 10 to 20 cents more anyways and definitely worth it. NOT SURE WHY THIS MAKES A DIFFERENCE, BUT IT DOES!! Also, the Angel Food does drowned out the cake flavor a little. Good Luck and Enjoy! My kids love this and are able to do it alone once I've mixed the mixes together and labeled in a gallon zip loc. ---Variation for a fuller/heartier cake is--1/3C. mix and 2T. water.

ReplyDeleteI've just been made aware of this recipe and would like to try it. Considering how many different wattage microwaves are out there, can you please tell me what wattage your microwave is so I'll know how to adjust the cook time?
ReplyDeleteJust wondering how long it would take to bake in conventional.
