Real Women's Bellies

No comments:
So even though TV tells us that women should have six packs you can bounce various coinage off of, it usually isn't the case, and it certainly shouldn't be the standard.
Emily McCombs at XOJane is doing her part to change that ideal with her "Real Girl Belly Project." McCombs recently put out a call for women to send un-photoshopped pictures of their bellies to post on the site. Even better, those submitting were asked to include a few words about what they like or appreciate about that area of their bodies.

Check out all 75 midriffs at XOJane.

Red Box Price Increase

8 comments:
So I guess it's old news by now that Redbox has increased their rental price to $1.20, instead of a flat $1.00. I had no idea about this increase until yesterday when I went to rent a movie online. Seriously? .20 extra cents? May not seem like much, but if you rent one movie a week that adds up to an extra $10.40 out of your pocket. You could have bought yourself so many jelly beans with that $10!

My other problem with the increase is, once a company gets away with one price increase, they don't stop. .44 cent stamp anyone (oh and that is increasing to .45 cents in January)? It's the whole give an inch, take a mile thing, that my 3 year old is so proficent with. Before you know it Redbox will be $1.50, then $2.00, then new releases will start costing more, etc, and before you know it Redbox is just Blockbuster in a red box.

Nail and String Portrait Art

2 comments:
Designers Pamela Campagna and Thomas Scheiderbauer take up to a month to work on each of their complicated artworks, but the outcome is certainly worth the time they put in. After analyzing an old photo they begin hammering nails into the canvas until they come up with a pixelated outline of the artwork, after which they start connecting the dots with thread. That’s easier said than done, and looking at how clean yet detailed their portraits turn out, they must have a great deal of patience.

Grape Nuts Pie

1 comment:
So on Thanksgiving my family loves to make and eat pie. One of our family favorites that has been passed down through the generations is Grape Nuts Pie, AKA Southern Pie. It tastes and looks almost exactly like Pecan Pie, I swear. So delicious.

So anywho, as my Thanksgiving present to you, I've decided to share our beloved recipe for Grape Nuts Pie. That's how much I tolerate love all of you!

SOUTHERN PIE aka GRAPENUT PIE
3/4 cup Grape-Nuts Cereal
1/2 cup warm water
3 eggs, well beaten
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup (light is ok)
3 tablespoons melted butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 unbaked pie shell

Combine cereal and water; let stand until water is absorbed. Meanwhile, blend eggs with sugar; add syrup, butter, vanilla, and salt. Fold in softened cereal. Pour into pie shell. Bake at 350 for 50 min. or until filling is puffed completely across the top. Cool. Garnish with whipped topping. Sprinkle with additional cereal, if desired.

Enjoy! Also, feel free to share this recipe on your blogs, FB pages etc., but please provide a link back to this post.

Dragon Gate

3 comments:
For the Dungeons and Dragons nerd with a lot of coin to spend, here is a dragon gate to protect your home and comic book collection.
In Dublin, Ireland, stands an estate reminiscent of old folklore, complete with its own dragon! Of course, dragons are mythical creatures, so this home only has a dragon made of steel which acts as its gatekeeper. The property, known at Harlech House, was originally built in 1798 by a Welsh immigrant. (The estate is actually named after a town in Wales called Harlech and the national flag has a dragon on it.) Harlech House sits on less than an acre of land but is full of enchantment. It features religious iconography and fairy-tale motifs throughout the seven-bedroom home, but it's the dragon gate that grabs the most attention.

The Half Sandwich

7 comments:
Seriously, why would anyone order, or for that matter offer a half-sandwich? What am I three? Can I only eat half a sandwich? Will you cut the crust off to please mommy? Also, what do they do with the other half of the sandwich? Do they make a whole sandwich and put the other half in the fridge for later? If I order a half sandwich, am I getting the other half of some other dude's sandwich? So that would mean I'm paying for someone else's leftovers, their table scraps. Mmmm.

It doesn't make it any better if you pair it with soup. Soup isn't even food, it's a glorified drink. You might as well order cookies and milk.

Now a foot-long sub and some beef stew, that's something I can get behind.
